SAT 2330, Dec   In the beginning of the summer, I had never given much thought to prepping for the SAT - I just assumed that I would take the test once, maybe twice, and settle with that score. Even though all my friends were telling me how great your camp was, I didn't really believe them.   But your SAT camp helped me understand the nuances of the exam. The intensive study packets, accountability system and daily sessions made a huge difference. I think, honestly, what matters in the end is how much practice you get. Since we had weekly packets, chock-full with real SAT questions, I [...]

I tested myself with SAT practice tests and my scores were consistently between 2100 and 2200. I thought a significant boost of my SAT score was not possible. However, after having heard from many of my friends that went to Dr. Li for SAT Prep generally improve their score by about 200 points, I decided to give it a try. I took two summer sessions of Dr. Li’s camp, one with both math [...]

First Name: Jonathan Z. Grade: 11 School: River Hill HS 800 Math 800 Critical Reading 800 Writing 10 (out of 12) Essay Beeeepp beeeepp! It was the sound of my alarm clock startling me awake at 6:30 AM on the cold Thursday morning of October 22. I quickly ran downstairs and turned on my computer. My hands shaking nervously, I logged onto College Board website and hesitantly pressed “View Scores”. Suddenly time seemed to freeze; mere seconds seemed like a lifetime. A flood of emotions rushed into my brain like a cascading avalanche: fear, hope, nervousness, and curiosity. Finally, the three numbers [...]

Sorry this is so late but I didn't have much time before. My scores were 800 in math, 760 in writing, 770 in reading when I took it in May. Please let me know what the reward is. Thanks. Here is my personal journey: I always thought I was good at grammar simply because I was always correcting my parents’. However, after taking a diagnostic SAT writing section, I was clearly deluding myself. I was doubtful at how much I could learn under a professor at Dr. Li’s summer camp. I mean, how much could I really take in if I can [...]

This past summer, I attended the SAT prep class Dr. Li's. I had done next to no research on the SAT before, so truthfully I didn't know what to expect. Once we started doing practice problems, I admit, I was a bit unnerved by how many I was getting wrong. Reading comprehension was just reading comprehension, so why was I making so many mistakes? Having taken the test two times now, what's become clear to me is that SAT is not only about your overall academic ability but also (and perhaps more importantly) how well you can cater to what Collegeboard wants [...]

It was Monday, June 19th. I went to the bus stop at around 7:25 am, and there was a silver Ford van that was our “bus” waiting for me. I got in, and there were a few other people already inside. There was barely any space. It was made worse when, at the next stop, 4 more people came in, making the van at capacity. It’s going to be a long two weeks, I thought. Once we arrived, I felt even more isolated. People seemed to know each other, and were talking, while I just sat there. But the instruction from the [...]

Last Summer, I could attend Dr. Li’s SAT Prep class for only two weeks due to my distance. This past August, about one year after I took the class, I took the SAT and received a 1590, with a 800 on math and a 790 on English. I got a 8/6/8 on the essay portion. I wish I could have a longer exposure as the learning impact goes well beyond the SAT score.   Dr. Li’s SAT Summer Session was my first real look at the SAT and my first time encountering many of the test’s formatting details and instructions. From the [...]

A Shortcut for a Big Jump: from 1460 to 1580My Experience with a True SAT PrepKatie G.Centennial HS To be honest, I don't crave for the test, but I need to brave it. My experience with Dr. Li’s SAT prep camp was undoubtedly a life-changer for my academic career. My summer internship made it impossible to keep up the SAT Prep that I need to ace the test. Fortunately, the Weekend Intensive Prep help me out my scheduling dilemma. The curriculum was fundamentally the same; however, the instructions were more concentrated into a shorter period of time. As someone with a packed [...]

Thanks to Dr. Li’s prep class, I scored a 1580 on the November 2016 SAT, with a 790 in reading/writing, a 790 in math, and a 7/7/7 on the essay. Before I signed up to attend Dr. Li’s summer SAT prep class, I was not confident about my ability to score well on the new SAT. I mainly struggled with the Math section—although the questions required math skills that I had learned in previous years, I lacked experience in seeing past the “tricks” and visualizing the best strategy to use to arrive at the answer. Also, whereas English has generally been one of [...]

With the restructuring of the SAT and my lack of improvement to begin with, I thought I could not possibly score well. I knew I didn’t need a perfect score to enter my dream school of UC Berkeley, but I was not going to score even a 1560, the equivalent of a 2300. Dr. Li’s class gave me the motivation and strategies I needed to improve on the SAT. Since the start of that school year, I had been practicing with prep books, but I always scored poorly on the reading and writing sections. I knew that I was still familiarizing myself [...]
