Thanks to Dr. Li’s prep class, I scored a 1580 on the November 2016 SAT, with a 790 in reading/writing, a 790 in math, and a 7/7/7 on the essay. Before I signed up to attend Dr. Li’s summer SAT prep class, I was not confident about my ability to score well on the new SAT. I mainly struggled with the Math section—although the questions required math skills that I had learned in previous years, I lacked experience in seeing past the “tricks” and visualizing the best strategy to use to arrive at the answer. Also, whereas English has generally been one of [...]
1570/Oct 16’/SC/Urbana HS/Junior
With the restructuring of the SAT and my lack of improvement to begin with, I thought I could not possibly score well. I knew I didn’t need a perfect score to enter my dream school of UC Berkeley, but I was not going to score even a 1560, the equivalent of a 2300. Dr. Li’s class gave me the motivation and strategies I needed to improve on the SAT. Since the start of that school year, I had been practicing with prep books, but I always scored poorly on the reading and writing sections. I knew that I was still familiarizing myself [...]

Name: Anuhya P. School: Centennial High School SAT Score: 2300 SAT Math: 770 SAT Writing: 780 SAT Critical Reading: 750 Essay Score: 11 Like many students throughout the nation, I have always been apprehensive about the SAT. Apprehensive might be a euphemism, actually. Terrified, stressed, worried- these emotions are more accurate. The SAT, I’ve been told, is, arguably, the most important test I will ever take in my life. No pressure right? Overwhelmed, and suddenly bombarded by the fact that I was going to have face this dreaded test, I had no idea where to begin my preparation. My parents wanted [...]
The proudest moment of a parent
Hi Doctor Li, Like you said good SAT score worth a lot. My daughter has weight GPA of 4.75 (7 APs) like most students you have. But her SAT 2400 and recommendation from U Penn due to her Gold keys on writing cracks the door open. She got $49,800 scholarship plus $5,000 financial aid from U Penn yesterday. U Penn is her early decision school and it is her dream school. She only applied one and she got it. She also wins National Merit and my employer's scholarships. SAT score 2400 worth total over $240,000 on scholarships and aids alone. It is [...]

However, I never worried much about it, assuming that it was all in the future, and I could deal with it then. I kept this attitude until the end of sophomore year when I realized junior year was approaching, and with it, the SAT’s. One of my friends mentioned Dr. Li’s camp, and how amazing it was; so, we decided to sign up. For [...]

Name: Ivy LSchool: Centennial HSGrade: Junior SAT: 2340 (Nov 2015)Essay: 11 (out of 12) Like many other teenagers, I have an independent, “I-can-do-it-all-by-myself”, attitude that I thought would apply to the SAT just like it applied to my everyday school curriculum. I argued vehemently with my parents that I would take on every stereotypical SAT prep book under the sun, and achieve a “good” score on my own. Needless to say, one summer passed, and I had completed an insignificant amount of work—the prep books still sported spotless and unwritten on interiors. With this in mind, my parents immediately registered me [...]

At the start of this SAT journey over two years ago, I over confidently assumed that the preparation would be rather straightforward and painless. I had always done well in my math and English classes at school, so I thought the SAT should a safe extension of my confidence. However, my first practice test with a score in the 1100’s suggested otherwise. I began to realize my proud GPA may not imply my SAT success, and I was desperate in need of help. Through the recommendation of a few peers, I decided to sign up for Dr. Li's Summer SAT prep course. [...]
